Cs2AgBiBr6 double halide-based lead-free perovskite solar cells are embellished as a prime attraction for the research community because of their phenomenal structural stability under ambient conditions and optoelectronic properties. This report mainly focuses on presenting a summary of Cs2AgBiBr6 multidimensional functionality such as photovoltaics, photodetectors, X-ray detectors, ferroelectricity, magnetization, and gas sensing. Also, it envelopes all the opportunities and obstacles in Cs2AgBiBr6-based lead-free double perovskites for numerous applications. Underlying structural behaviour of the Cs2AgBiBr6, fabrication, charge carrier dynamics, approaches to strengthen the performance and stability enhancement like bandgap engineering, functional doping, etc. This review extensively addresses all the factors such as indirect bandgap, defect engineering, non-radiative recombination, and electron-phonon coupling that drastically drops its performance and reveal the proper approaches that should be preferred. Detailed performance comparison with various transport layers and modifications is addressed under the vast area of applications and concluded with the scope and future perspectives. © 2022 Elsevier Ltd
