摘要
The air that enters cosmetics during the manufacturing processes affects their appearance. Light scattered by air particles shows a complex behavior depending on their particle size. Naturally, the total amount of scattering varies with the number of air particles. In this study, a radiative transfer analysis was conducted on a cosmetic layer model. The radiative properties of the air particles and the Pickering foam in cosmetics were calculated using Mie scattering theory and finite element method. Radiative transfer analysis using a one-dimensional parallel plane model was conducted, and reflectances of the layer with and without air particles were calculated and displayed. From the difference between the two, the appearance change was quantified according to a defined formula in this study. Moreover, the difference in reflectance depending on the dispersion state of the particle was examined. This result provides an efficient means of quality improvement in cosmetics. © 2020 Elsevier B.V.
