Repeated load triaxial tests were performed on coarse-grained soil filling, and the development laws of axial permanent strain of coarse-grained soil under different confining pressures and axial dynamic stresses were analyzed.The permanent deformation behaviors of coarse-grained soil were divided based on shakedown theory and the variation trend of permanent strain rate with accumulated plastic strain, and a permanent deformation prediction model considering stress state and number of load cycles was established.The range of parameters for different dynamic behavior types was also given.The results indicate that variation trend of cumulative strain rate with accumulated plastic strain can be used as a basis for classifying the dynamic behaviors of coarse-grained soil.The stress state (confining pressure and dynamic stress amplitude) of coarse-grained soil samples has significant effects on the permanent strain rate.The accumulation characteristics of permanent deformation of coarse-grained soil with load cycles can be described by power function.The model parameters can reflect the influence of confining pressure and dynamic stress amplitude.The research results will help to deepen the understanding of the deformation response characteristics of coarse-grained soil filling. © 2019, Editorial Board of Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
