摘要
The ionic polymer metal composites (IPMC) based on suofonated polyimide were pre pared and the performances of the new IPMC were tested. Scanning electron micros copes show that the metals platinum and silver are well adhesion with the sulfonated polyimide substrate, the thickness of the metal layer is 12 μm. The water uptake, surface resistance and electric braking performance of the IPMC materials were tested. Experimental results show that the water uptake of based on SPI is obvious higher than of based on Nafion, compared with traditional Nafion as base material of IPMC materials, the IPMC based on SPI shows a much larger tip displacement, and a stronger sensitivity. These data show that sulfonated polyimide is an ideal material to substitute Nafion membrane as the IPMC base material. © 2019, Editorial Board of Polymer Materials Science & Engineering.
