摘要
Engineers are problem solvers. So, when new building projects present interesting and challenging issues, that's when engineers really shine. For three teams of engineers from three leading firms, especially problematic projects made them think outside the proverbial box and develop innovative solutions to make these projects work. This trio of troubles involved an especially small and challenging site, squeezed by railroad tracks and a river; a complex urban redevelopment that featured the construction of an office building partially overlapping an adjacent theater that was under construction at the same time; and a tall tower that required a nontraditional approach to dealing with high wind loads and the foundations. © 2019 American Society of Civil Engineers.
