摘要
Infertility affects-19% of women between the ages of 15 and 49 years, and-9% of men of reproductive age in the United States. Rising infertility rates have led to couples presenting with infertility concerns in the primary care setting, emphasizing the nurse practitioner's vital role in beginning the infertility workup. Using an infertility algorithm can aid in the diagnosis and seamless transition to a fertility specialist. The nurse practitioner can obtain a detailed medical and reproductive history, perform an appropriate physical examination, order initial diagnostic testing, perform a medication reconciliation, provide patient education, and initiate referrals to specialists.
