摘要
Public communication of science plays a decisive role in the accessibility of knowledge in society. However, the heterogeneous construction and the accelerated growth of scientific production in the publication system has strengthened the need to measure the latent behavior in order to guide institutional scientific policies and increase the efficiency of exchange networks. Hence, the research is set as an objective: to evaluate the research on public communication of science through the articles registered between 2019 and 2023 in the Dimensions database. The study is of a descriptive-explanatory type and is supported by a mixed methodology applied to the interpretation of the 315 records that make up the sample. In addition, a bibliographic-documentary review, qualitative content analysis and bibliometric analysis were used. The results describe among the main thematic lines: science in media, citizen science, social inclusion, and participatory deliberation. Likewise, it expands on the types of research: theoretical and applied; the disciplinary approaches, and the different areas and scenarios of study at the interpersonal, group, organizational and mass levels. The findings demonstrate the multidisciplinary nature that underpins empirical research; conditions that turn the public communication of science into an emerging agenda of studies in the academic and professional field of Communication Sciences.
