Ruraling career guidance research and practice: learning from rural perspectives

摘要
Existing career guidance research and practice is based on urban, or metrocentric, models and assumptions, which are problematic for rural communities. In the field of education, researchers have argued that 'ruraling' scholarship can be beneficial in challenging existing metrocentric models and opening new ways of imagining practice. In this paper, we apply the concept of 'ruraling' to the field of career guidance, arguing that rural scholarship can reveal implicit spatial assumptions in existing models and approaches, challenge neoliberal and metrocentric discourses and re-envision career guidance in ways that are more inclusive and spatially sensitive. Les recherches et pratiques existantes en mati & egrave;re d'orientation professionnelle sont bas & eacute;es sur des mod & egrave;les et des hypoth & egrave;ses urbains, ou m & eacute;trocentriques, qui posent probl & egrave;me pour les communaut & eacute;s rurales. Dans le domaine de l'& eacute;ducation, les chercheurs ont soutenu que la 'ruralisation' de la recherche peut & ecirc;tre b & eacute;n & eacute;fique pour remettre en question les mod & egrave;les m & eacute;trocentriques existants et ouvrir de nouvelles fa & ccedil;ons d'imaginer la pratique. Dans cet article, nous appliquons le concept de 'ruralisation' au domaine de l'orientation professionnelle en soutenant que la recherche rurale peut r & eacute;v & eacute;ler les hypoth & egrave;ses spatiales implicites dans les mod & egrave;les et approches existants, remettre en question les discours n & eacute;olib & eacute;raux et m & eacute;trocentriques, et repenser l'orientation professionnelle de mani & egrave;re & agrave; & ecirc;tre plus inclusive et sensible & agrave; l'espace. Bestehende Forschung und Praxis zur Berufsberatung basieren auf st & auml;dtischen oder metrozentrischen Modellen und Annahmen, die f & uuml;r l & auml;ndliche Gemeinschaften problematisch sind. Im Bereich der Bildung haben Forscher argumentiert, dass die 'Verl & auml;ndlichung' von Stipendien vorteilhaft sein kann, um bestehende metrozentrische Modelle herauszufordern und neue Wege des Denkens in der Praxis zu er & ouml;ffnen. In diesem Aufsatz wenden wir das Konzept der 'Verl & auml;ndlichung' auf das Feld der Berufsberatung an und argumentieren, dass l & auml;ndliche Stipendien implizite r & auml;umliche Annahmen in bestehenden Modellen und Ans & auml;tzen aufdecken k & ouml;nnen, neoliberale und metrozentrische Diskurse herausfordern und die Berufsberatung auf eine Weise neu konzipieren k & ouml;nnen, die mehr inklusiv und r & auml;umlich sensibel ist. La investigaci & oacute;n y pr & aacute;ctica existentes en orientaci & oacute;n profesional se basan en modelos y suposiciones urbanas, o metrocentricas, que son problem & aacute;ticas para las comunidades rurales. En el campo de la educaci & oacute;n, los investigadores han argumentado que la 'ruralizaci & oacute;n' de la beca puede ser beneficiosa para desafiar los modelos metrocentricos existentes y abrir nuevas formas de imaginar la pr & aacute;ctica. En este art & iacute;culo aplicamos el concepto de 'ruralizaci & oacute;n' al campo de la orientaci & oacute;n profesional argumentando que la beca rural puede revelar suposiciones espaciales impl & iacute;citas en los modelos y enfoques existentes, desafiar los discursos neoliberales y metrocentricos y re-imaginar la orientaci & oacute;n profesional de formas que sean m & aacute;s inclusivas y sensibles al espacio.
