摘要
The introduction of Extensive Reading (ER) has highlighted the crucial role that the act of reading plays the learning of a second language. The widespread implementation of ER programs in foreign language classrooms in Japan over the last decades has led to the development of specialized platforms for digital books. Although the convenience of such books is undeniable, little attention has been paid to potential drawbacks to the learning process. Through a case study of the experiences of two students, this article aims to shed light on the disadvantages and risks associated with reading digital books, particularly on mobile phones, in extensive reading programs.
