Landscape tourism potential: identification of sites of scenic interest (Camino de la Costa, Argentina)

This article describes research into the Camino de la Costa, an area made up of eleven destinations and tourist centres along the coast of the Argentine Sea in the province of R & iacute;o Negro. The objective was to identify Sites of Landscape Interest based on the evaluation of the scenic quality of the landscape, applying the method of disaggregation by components. The research shows that the characteristic landscape of the Camino has in itself a significant scenic quality with potential for tourism use; nine LIS were identified as the most relevant to be included in the design of proposals aimed at promoting the landscape as a tourism resource. It should be added that, in Argentina, there are practically no scenic routes bordering the sea, so the landscape as a tourist resource of the Camino de la Costa could be reworked to integrate it into various tourist-recreational proposals, thereby promoting its protection and conservation.
