The most recent opinion of the German Ethics Council on climate justice addresses the underrepresentation of ethical considerations in the climate discourse. It highlights ethical conflicts in climate protection and has caused controversy both internally and externally. The controversial reception of the opinion reflects entrenched positions and ethical tensions, emphasizing the need for transparency and public debate in scientific policy advice.
