摘要
Layered ceramic/metal plates are investigated for ballistic impact against projectiles with different nose shapes. Explicit finite element method is used to model the target and projectile. This study examines the effect of nose shapes on the ballistic performance of target. This includes replacing the metallic layer with a ceramic plate of the same thickness to identify the best ceramic-to-target plate ratio for maximum BLV. Ballistic performance is compared between two different configurations having equal total thickness of ceramic and metallic layer. Increased ceramic layer thickness upto certain thickness-ratio may significantly improve the target plate's ballistic resistance for all bullet types.
