METHODOLOGICAL PATHS ON HISTORY OF THE PRESS AND GENDER IN THE 19TH CENTURY

This article explores new methodological paths in the field of Press History, driven by contributions from feminist epistemologies. By expanding the range of sources and focusing on the social changes of the nineteenth century, we aim to reinterpret the progression of the journalism profession for women in Brazil. In addition to journals produced by women, we utilize commercial documents, public instruction records, daily press articles, and personal letters. Our goal is to provide analytical depth to the history we seek to narrate, emphasizing the gender inequality that structured this period and necessitating a detailed analysis of the social specificities that influenced the production of newspapers and women's access to the press.
