摘要
This paper presents the revision study of the strongest earthquake (MW 5.6, data source ParametricCatalog of Italian Earthquakes - CPTI15) that occurred in the area of the Province of Rome on August26, 1806. A preliminary analysis of the data and related sources in the CPTI15 shows severalinconsistencies in the current state of knowledge of the event. The aim of the work was therefore toreconsider the entire body of known sources and simultaneously undertake a search for new evidence. The research resulted in an enrichment of the information picture of the earthquake and in theassignment of new intensity values. The newly estimated macroseismic magnitude of the event issignificantly lower than that currently in the catalog record
