摘要
Financial decisions are often made without adequate knowledge or experience, leading to hasty decisions. It is crucial to recognize that poor financial management not only affects individuals but also has broader social implications. Every day, financial decisions involve organizations, households and individuals, underscoring the im-portance of acquiring financial knowledge to make informed choices. In Colombia, a lack of basic financial knowledge contributes to uninformed decision making, highlighting the need for financial education to enhance quality of life and foster confidence in managing finances. The academic sector plays a pivotal role in reshaping students' financial decision - making process by providing them with them with essential elements to make prudent use of resources. This article reviews the integration of financial education in higher education, analyzing publications registered in the Scopus database from 2000 to 2023 using bibliometric tools such as Bibliometrix and Tree of Science. The review identifies the most relevant authors, countries, journals, and documents in the field, emphasizing the significance of implementation financial education at higher education levels and delineating strategies for its integration. Analysis of 612 documents unveils the origin, evolution, and emerging trends in the field, showcasing the role of financial education in areas such as consumption, retirement, and business. Finally, the article outlines an agenda for future research in this domain.
