Investigations into the shear load-bearing capacity of stainless steel sheets

摘要
The design rules for the shear load-bearing capacity of stainless steel sheets in accordance with DIN EN 1993-1-4 are more conservative than for structural steel sheets in accordance with DIN EN 1993-1-5. This leads to increased material consumption in stainless steel structures. For this reason, experimental and numerical investigations on the shear buckling resistance of stainless steel plates on torsionally loaded box girder cross-sections were carried out, which led to a revision of the design specification for the shear buckling resistance of stainless steels for non-rigid as well as rigid end posts.
