Vico and the Mythical Thought: Notes for a Modern Aesthetic

Vico is recognized as the father of modern mythological thought by many scholars, from Cassirer to Bottici, even though he did not consecrate the New Science to the exposition of a theory of myth. As already underlined by Furio Jesi, the Neapolitan author anticipates the modern science of myth, by placing his own philosophical vision of language and of literature above all in the wake of an allegorical thought, which he radically renews to outline a modern and anti-Aris-totelian aesthetic.
