For decades, possible associations between dietary cholesterol and the development of diabetes or cardiovascular disease have been discussed - but the underlying studies have not produced conclusive results. S. Shi et al. have now studied these associations - each adjusted for body mass index (BMI) - in individuals with different genetic susceptibility to the diseases.
