摘要
Most myocardial infarctions are caused by erosion or rupture of an arteriosclerotic plaque with subsequent acute thrombotic occlusion of the corresponding vessel segment due to coronary heart disease (CHD). Such vulnerable plaques are characterized by a high lipid content and inflammatory activity rather than a high degree of stenosis. The present study investigates the potential benefit of coronary CT angiography for identifying vulnerable plaques based on plaque enhancement.
