Performance Analysis of SWIPT NOMA With Partial Relay Selection Employing Optimized Power Splitting Factor

Among diverse number of strategies which are currently under investigation for upcoming wireless networks, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) seems to be noteworthy. Recent research has focused on relay selection for cooperative simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT)-NOMA systems. Partial Relay Selection (PRS) has been identified as the most effective method for enhancing the performance of cell edge users during signal transmission. Based on these grounds, in this work, we propose a Relay Selection Decode and Forward-SWIPT-NOMA (RS-DF-SWIPT-NOMA) system and examine its performance in terms of outage probability (OP), bit error rate (BER), throughput for delay-limited transmission mode (DLT), and energy efficiency (EE) by considering both perfect and imperfect successive interference cancellation (SIC) scenarios for SWIPT enabled NOMA using PRS. The PRS protocol selects the user with the optimal channel conditions among all accessible users to serve as a relay for cell edge users. Analytical equations are formulated for these parameters, and theoretical and simulation results indicate that the proposed approach surpasses conventional DF-SWIPT NOMA systems. Furthermore, this work analyzes the performance of cell edge users with optimal power splitting factor (OPSF), and the simulation results demonstrate that OPSF based RS-DF-SWIPT-NOMA system outperforms the fixed power splitting factor (FPSF) based RS-DF-SWIPT-NOMA system.
