The View of COMECON Experts on the Prospects for Developing Cooperation with Algeria in Oil and Gas Sector, Mid-1970s

The author of the article for the first time publishes and introduces into scientific circulation an analytical document prepared in late 1975 by experts for COMECON Oil Bureau - "Generalized material for preparation of a set of practical measures related to cooperation of COMECON member countries [among themselves and with Algeria - A. G.] and aimed at guaranteeing in advance long-term oil supplies from Algeria". Today this document is held by the Russian State Archive of Economics (as part of the large collection of COMECON materials: RGAE. Fond 561). By analyzing the document, it is possible to reveal the view of foreign trade specialists of COMECON member countries on the prospects for developing cooperation with the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria (PDRA) in oil and gas sector in the mid-1970s. The published document confirms COMECON good awareness of what was happening to the oil and gas industry of PDRA in the seventies.
