摘要
In today's digital era, older adults encounter challenges in navigating digital technologies, potentially impeding their integration into contemporary society. Concurrently, digital literacy among this demographic is pivotal, facilitating access to information, services, and social connections. The rising significance of mobile applications for communication with family and friends is evident, with research indicating their capacity to fortify bonds, alleviate loneliness, and bolster emotional well-being in older adults. To address critical gaps in understanding, a literature review utilizing the Web of Science database identified 22 pertinent studies, guided by criteria encompassing accessibility, scientific rigor, and relevance. Subsequent qualitative content analysis of 10 selected articles yielded insights into mobile app usage among older adults for familial communication, revealing key themes, trends, and research voids. Key findings underscore the imperative to explore mobile app impact on broader familial networks to enhance overall quality of life, alongside the imperative to develop bespoke applications tailored to older users. This analysis delves into the vital role of mobile applications in augmenting communication and connectivity among older adults and their families, aligning with IFAC's mission to harness technology and innovation for the betterment of human existence.
