This article believes that the practice of philosophical counseling should pay attention to whole aspects and values of the human beings. The stance of agent-based virtue theory adopted by contemporary American philosopher Zagzebski could be applied as the theoretical basis for the practice of philosophical counseling. By assisting clients cultivating intellectual and moral virtues, philosophical counselor helps clients pursue their own virtues and happiness. In the practical process of philosophical counseling, philosophical counselor could apply Ricoeur's concept of "narrative identity" to dialogue with the client with the goal of becoming a virtuous person, and accompany the client on the journey of cultivating virtues. This article takes the virtue of forgiveness as an example to illustrate that a philosophical counselor could help the client by dialoguing to understand the meaning of forgiveness from the cognitive aspect of intellectual virtue, and by narrating to introduce a new perspective of interpretation into the client's memories. After reconstructing the client's understanding of the meanings and values of his / her own life, philosophical counselor could further encourage the client to cultivate and practice the ethical virtue of forgiveness, and to embrace a newer life.
