摘要
In this work low and high velocity impact tests were conducted on steel plates with and without polyurea coating. A numerical modeling framework was developed and validated with these experimental results. Additional numerical simulations were carried out to generate more datapoints of residual velocity and ballistic limit under different impact conditions. Using these datapoints, analytical models were developed through which the position, the critical areal density and critical thickness of polyurea coating were determined. These findings will be very useful in designing efficient armor protection systems using polyurea coated layered materials.
