摘要
In modern society knowledge of a foreign language not only characterizes a person as educated, but is also necessary for professional growth in the world of science, culture, art, sports and other spheres of human activity. Learning a foreign language is not only the acquisition of a certain set of linguistic knowledge (the study of phonetics, vocabulary, grammar) and even not only the formation of a person's ability and readiness to communicate and participate in intercultural interaction. The main value of learning a foreign language lies in its enormous possibilities to influence the formation and development of the personality of students, which is relevant at the present time, since both at the level of society and at the level of the state there is a demand for the formation of a comprehensively developed personality. Due to its specificity, the foreign language has unlimited training and educational opportunities. The language is the repository of the culture of the people. By learning a foreign language, students discover an inexhaustible source of knowledge and means for the spiritual and moral development of a person. Learning a foreign language and culture of other countries arouses interest in the culture of your own country and your native language. Through a comparative analysis of different languages and cultures, the worldview of students, their values and priorities, and an active civic position are being formed. There is a moral, aesthetic, and personal development of students. A system of values and moral knowledge is being formed, skills and habits of moral behavior are being developed. The ability to perceive and understand the beautiful in art and in life develops, aesthetic taste is formed. Communication in a foreign language is one of the ways of self-discovery and self-expression. The process of mastering a foreign language acts as a powerful mechanism for the personal development of students. In addition, learning the language and culture of other countries is an effective means of patriotic education. Through comparison and contrasting of different cultures, a sense of civic identity is formed, awareness of belonging to the community of citizens of the country on the basis of cultural community. In this way, love for one's homeland, language, people, cultural and historical heritage of one's native country is instilled. However, it should be emphasized that for the successful result of education by means of a foreign language, the role of the teacher, his manner of teaching and communication, his ability to motivate students to learn the language and arouse interest in his subject is very important. There are no trifles in the process of education, the content of the materials used is important (the choice of texts, videos and audio materials for study and discussion, the selection of historical events and relevant topics for discussion), the methodological teaching system, the psychological microclimate in the classroom. The article discusses various forms of work in the classroom: working in groups and pairs, writing essays, project activities, educational and cognitive games, which include role-playing and business games, educational discussions and press conferences. Unfortunately, the significant educational opportunities of a foreign language lesson are not always fully used in practice. The purpose of this article is to determine the ways and conditions for realizing the educational potential of a foreign language in the educational process. The object of the study is the education of schoolchildren through academic discipline "Foreign Language". The educational possibilities of a foreign language are analyzed, the prospects of using its educational potential are discussed. The article emphasizes the importance of close interaction of training and educational activities in the process of teaching. Different approaches to the definition of the concept of education are considered. The educational potential of the foreign language is revealed, which is embedded both in the goals, principles, subject content, methods and techniques, teaching methodology as well as in the personality of the teacher. The main types of education in the process of learning a foreign language are investigated: moral, patriotic, aesthetic education, etc. Special attention is paid to the importance of the role played by a foreign language in the formation of a student's personality. The article provides a brief digression into the history of the issue of the relationship between training and upbringing in the educational process. The article analyzes the experience of separating education from training, which took place in our country at the turn of the XX-XXI centuries. The Russian Federation's accession to the Bologna system in 2003 and exit from this system in 2022 is estimated. The importance of the traditional educational system for our country with the unity of training and upbringing in a holistic pedagogical process is emphasized. Speaking about the traditional educational system, it should be noted that traditionalism does not exclude the use of modern methods. The article mentions new methodological developments: the use of artificial intelligence in teaching a foreign language, the use of digital technology tools such as a chatbot, a forum, a web seminar, a web quest, etc. A foreign language has a huge educational potential, being both a subject of study and a means of communication. The perspective of the research is to expand the topics, methods, techniques and means for realizing the educational possibilities of a foreign language in a secondary school.
