摘要
Genotoxic stress, arising from various environmental sources and endogenous cellular processes, pose a constant threat to genomic stability. Cells have evolved intricate mechanisms to detect and repair DNA damage, orchestrating a robust genotoxic stress response to safeguard the integrity of the genome. Recent research has shed light on the crucial role of co- and post-transcriptional regulatory mechanisms in modulating the cellular response to genotoxic stress. Here we highlight recent advances illustrating the intricate interplay between pre-mRNA processing, with a focus on 3 '-end processing, and genotoxic stress response. Genotoxic stress impacts pre-mRNA processing and maturation, threatening genomic stability. Cells respond with DNA repair mechanisms, often uncoupling 3'-end processing from transcription. Recent research underscores the crucial interplay of co- and post-transcriptional regulation in this response. This update highlights new findings on pre-mRNA 3'-end processing due to DNA damage. image
