摘要
Pseudopospermum undulatum (synonym of Scorzonera undulata), is a perennial plant that has different uses in both food and medicine. It has several therapeutic and nutritional benefits. It is used as a traditional medicine to treat burns, snake bites, and diabetes. In North Africa, the delicious root of Pseudopodospermum undulatum is consumed raw or cooked in water due to its sweetness, diuretic, and emollient effects. Scientific research has demonstrated the phytochemical composition and medicinal potential of several parts of the species Pseudopodospermum undulatum, including the aerial part, leaves, flowers, roots, and tubers. In this review, we list the main phytochemical compositions of each part of the plant Pseudopodospermum undulatum and their pharmacological properties, including antioxidant, antidiabetic, antilipidemic, antitumoral, antibacterial, antiinflammatory, and antixanthine oxidase. We also mentioned the botanical description and distribution of this species.
