摘要
In the current research paper, the mechanical, microstructural, and reciprocating wear behaviour of AA7075-SiC/red mud/MoS2 hybrid metal matrix composites that are prepared through stir casting are analysed to find out the influence of the reinforcement weight percentage. There are three different developed composites prepared based on different compositions of reinforcement. The highest tensile and hardness values are obtained at a composition of 2.5 wt% red mud + 2.5 wt% SiC, + 10 wt% MoS2. However, the impact strength decreases with an increase in MoS2 reinforcement content. Wear analysis is done for all samples using three different loads (15, 30, and 45 N). Percentage variation of coefficient of friction w.r.t base metal (A0) is decreased by 18.24%, 35.5%, and 19.63% for samples A1, A2, and A3, respectively. Variation in wear rate in (mg/m) is decreased by 97.66%, 97.67%, and 97.99% for samples A1, A2, and A3 w.r.t base metal (A0) at 45 N load. Highest hardness is obtained for sample A3, i.e. 48.28% higher w.r.t base metal (A0). Percentage increment in tensile strength in comparison with base metal is 9.76%, 20.93%, and 41.86% for samples A1, A2, and A3, respectively.
