center dot Ethical dilemmas arising among patients with head and neck cancer are amplified by their vulnerability given challenges involving communication barriers and socioeconomic disparities. center dot Shared decision-making for complicated choices in head and neck surgical oncology is improved with the application of tailored decision support tools and strategies. center dot Upstream integration of palliative care and proactive efforts to address symptom burden and distress are critical for many patients with head and neck cancer even when cancer- directed therapy continues.
