摘要
Purpose of ReviewThe role of food allergy (FA) and food testing in pediatric atopic dermatitis (AD) is unclear. Recent studies have provided significant insight into the interaction between AD and FA, primary prevention strategies, and efficacy of food testing and elimination diets.Recent FindingsIn this review, we outlined the epidemiology, risk factors, and cellular mechanisms contributing to development of FA in pediatric AD. We reviewed intervention strategies and existing guidelines for preventing FA in infantile AD, and assessment and management of suspected food triggers in AD.SummaryAD is a major risk factor for FA, with increased risk in early-onset and severe AD. Early introduction of allergenic foods, and early aggressive treatment of AD can reduce the risk of FA. Empiric testing and elimination diets in unselected AD populations should be avoided.
