"Don't Forget Your Loyal Friends": Letters of S. V. Rozhdestvenskii and O. A. Rozhdestvenskaia to A. A. Vasiliev (1925-1929)

Private letters between intellectuals, even when limited to personal matters, quite often contain information important for scholarly biographies of the correspondents and of other persons mentioned in such letters. The Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Vasiliev papers at the University of Wisconsin at Madison contain letters between him and fellow historians, one of them being Sergei Vasil'evich Rozhdestvenskii. The letters of Rozhdestvenskii and his wife, Ol'ga Aleksandrovna Rozhdestvenskaia, substantially add to what we have known about their daily lives, work, and research. The letters also discuss representatives of the so-called old St. Petersburg intelligentsia.
