摘要
We describe two new species of the microhylid frog genus Choerophryne VAN KAMPEN, 1914 from the mountains of Papua New Guinea. The first is a scansorial species known only from foothill forest at altitudes of 440-950 m a.s.l. on the northern slopes of Papua New Guinea's Central Cordillera. It is a moderately large member of the genus (males 16.820.6 mm snout-urostyle length) that utters long series of short whistling calls each lasting 77-125 ms. The second species is arboreal and known only from a small area of montane forest at altitudes of 2060-2300 m a.s.l. on the southern edge of the Central Cordillera. It is also moderately large for the genus (three males with snout-urostyle lengths of 19.3-20.6 mm) and produces long series of short buzzing calls, each lasting 124-173 ms. Descriptions of these two species bring the number of recognised Choerophryne to 39, and at least 18 additional species in the genus await formal description.
