TOWARDS A COMMON HIGHER EDUCATION AREA: INTEGRATING KAZAKHSTAN INTO GLOBAL SCENARIO

The paper deals with the important changes that are currently taking place in the system of education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It highlights the basic reforms which include Lisbon ratification, joining the Bologna process, a number of laws and normative documents issued by the Government and the Ministry of Education and Science, integration and internationalization of higher education, introduction of credit system, international cooperation and global partnerships, and others. The paper aims at promoting the dialogue between the world universities and that of Kazakhstan, stimulating their cooperation in staff exchange and students' mobility, joint projects and research, two diploma educational programs, creation of joint international universities and other educational issues.
