Recurrence of aggressive variant of central giant granuloma in a pediatric patient

Central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) is an uncommon, benign but aggressive neoplasm of the maxillofacial region with an unknown etiology. It is a relatively scarce type of a lesion and has great predilection generally for younger patients usually less than 30 years with a female predominance. The clinical behavior of CGCG is variable and difficult to predict. It can be of two types. The non -aggressive variant CGCG often produces asymptomatic expansion of the jaws and has low recurrence rate. However, the aggressive variant might cause more severe symptoms like pain, osseous destruction, cortical perforation, root resorption, and also has a high rate of recurrence. It is mostly found in the mandible in the anterior region. We report a case of recurrence of an aggressive type of CGCG in a 14 -year -old female patient after 10 years of initial surgical intervention.
