IDENTIFICATION OF VIRTUAL TEAM MANAGEMENT CHALLENGES IN INNOVATION PROJECTS: A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW

Innovation is one way to maintain companies' competitiveness, being carried out through technological projects, which require different profiles of team members that may not be available in the region, requiring the creation of virtual teams. The present study identifies what has been researched on the management characteristics and behavior of local and global virtual team members. This systematic literature review includes 48 articles from 2013 to 2023 published in the Scopus database, identifying nine themes, the main ones being new forms of coordination and collaboration between members and the work environment. The main journals that have published these themes and the main methodologies used were presented. The contributions to the field of project management are the aspects of technological innovation projects to be deepened and the presentation of 22 research questions to guide the evolution of the academic field.
