摘要
This article utilizes data from Emif Norte to examine the use of coyotes in the main crossing regions of Mexico-United States migration during 2015-2019: Baja California-California, Sonora-Arizona and Tamaulipas-Texas; and how this varies in each region according to the social and human capital and gender of migrants by applying logistic regression models. The findings highlight the importance of the regional perspective in understanding the phenomenon of coyotaje: in Tamaulipas-Texas, women are more likely to use coyote than men, while in Baja California-California the opposite is true, and in Sonora-Arizona there is no effect; in Baja California-California and Sonora-Arizona, migrants without crossing experience are more likely to use coyotes than those with crossing experience, unlike Tamaulipas-Texas, where there is no effect.
