GENETIC MODELS MIMICKING HUMAN DISEASES

In this article we highlight recent innovative research, with newly created or existing genetic models of disease, demonstrating the value of the techniques discovered in recent decades for altering genetic sequences in animals. The research touches on a wide range of diseases, from dermatological disorders to Huntington's disease, and showcases the ability of genetic models created via knockin, knockout and transgenic approaches to illuminate disease processes, the biology of healthy physiological systems, the suitability of old and new agents as treatments, and potential new therapeutic targets.
