摘要
The integration of renewable energy sources based on inverters has a negative impact on the accuracy of impedance-based single-ended fault locators due to the phase angle shift introduced by inverter controls and grid codes. In this paper, we proposed two practical approaches to mitigate these challenges. The first approach uses remote current measurement in addition to local measurements when a reliable communication system is available, and the second approach uses local measurements alone to estimate in the absence of communication channel and compensate for the phase angle deviation. Without making any additional infrastructure changes, the proposed method can be used in existing protection relays. The accuracy of the developed method is validated by laboratory experimental and field data.
