New GCL composite vertical anti-seepage technology and its application

摘要
Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL) composite vertical anti-seepage barrier technology introduces GCL into the field of vertical anti-seepage and combines with low-permeability wall to form a composite anti-seepage system. GCL was laid vertically one or both sides of the excavated trench. GCL panel is factory fabricated to ensure easy fast and accurate vertical installation at site, GCL can be standard, multicomponent, or even polymer enhanced to cope with site specific leachate. Backfill can be mixture of soil-bentonite, cement-bentonite or soil-cement-bentonite. Compared with conventional rigid anti-seepage wall, it improves the overall performance in terms of wall permeability, integrity and durability, and it is more cost-effective than its counterpart HDPE vertical barrier. GCL anti-seepage barrier technology has been used in landfill, industrial pollution site and mine waste site remediation successfully, and well-received as a suitable candidate for immediate protection and containment assurance in China.
