摘要
Steel Strips Reinforced Thermoplastic Pipe (SSRTP) is a type of flexible pipeline that can be applied in offshore industries for extracting oil and gas. Due to the helical structure of SSRTP, the torsion may end up being the primary cause of failure. This study proposed a new theoretical approach that can predict the torque failure amount of SSRTPs precisely enough. A three-dimensional finite element model has been established and is validated by the experimental method. The characteristics that most significantly affect the torsional behaviour of pipe have been studied through a parametric analysis. Furthermore, some recommendations are made concerning the design of SSRTPs in practical engineering.
