摘要
Despite procrastination becoming an increasingly prevalent issue in society, its underlying causes remain unclear. Smartphone ubiquity has increased scrutiny of their potential role in exacerbating procrastination. While past empirical research has offered mixed findings regarding the link between smartphone addiction and procrastination, this study sought to bring clarity to the discourse. This study embarked on a comprehensive metaanalysis to gauge the relationship between smartphone addiction and procrastination. The findings highlight a significant positive correlation between the two. Intriguingly, this association was modulated by variables such as publication year and study quality, the impact of publication year is due to the COVID-19 epidemic, while the impact of study quality stems mainly from the consideration and control of confounding factors. Policymakers need to consider smartphone addiction when developing strategies to combat procrastination.
