摘要
Background and Objective : This study conducted a systematic review of the literature on the precariousness of faculty work in private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Brazil, aiming to understand the relationship between working conditions and the health of professors. Method : The literature review was systematically carried out in the databases Scielo, BVS-Psi, Pepsic, Lilacs, BVS-Brasil, and CAPES Journals. Studies addressing the experiences of professors in private HEIs in Brazil were included. Results : A total of 256 studies were identified, of which six met the research criteria for qualitative synthesis. The analysis of these six studies highlighted that the precariousness of work is a persistent reality among faculty members in private HEIs. This precariousness is characterized by deteriorated working conditions, including flexible contracts, inadequate remuneration, workload overload, and loss of autonomy. These conditions have a significant impact on the mental and physical health of professors, with a prevalence of disorders such as depression, anxiety, and other stress-related issues. Conclusions : This systematic review identified a direct link between labor precariousness and the deterioration of the mental and physical health of faculty members in private HEIs. The results underline the urgent need for reforms in the management policies of these institutions, aiming to promote a fairer and more sustainable work environment that respects the dignity and well-being of professors.
