Pre-service teachers' beliefs and ideas about the use of History of Mathematics as a didactic resource

摘要
In order to know the attitudes, knowledge and beliefs of future teachers about the use of the History of Mathematics as a didactic resource are, a study was carried out among 146 students in the 2nd and 3rd years of the Bachelor's Degree in Primary School in two Spanish universities, Jaume I and Salamanca, collecting information on their initial training, their usual grades in mathematics and their knowledge of the History of Mathematics. The results show that most of the future teachers are inclined to use the History of Mathematics as a teaching resource and are aware of its advantages. But most of them do not know how to integrate it into their future classes and consider it necessary to receive more training on it. These results are, in general, independent of their previous studies, their knowledge of the History of Mathematics and their results in mathematics
