摘要
The present study aimed to translate and adapt the Perceived Discrimination Scale in the LGBT Community, developed in Puerto Rico, to the Brazilian context with a sample of university students. The twenty items from the original scale were translated into Portuguese and subjected to a pilot study. It was later applied to 528 undergraduate students, who identified thmselves as lesbian, gay, bisexual or pansexual. The exploratory factor analysis confirmed the presence of the two existing factors in the original scale: individual discrimination and group discrimination. Furthermore, the instrument presented satisfactory accuracy rates. Finally, evidence of validity was found based on the relationship with external variables (mental suffering and academic stress). The results indicate a good internal structure of the scale and present satisfactory evidence to assist in the career development process of the LGB population, based on the identification of potential social barriers to full integration into society.
