The topic of this paper is mathematical modeling file system performance in virtual environment with special emphasis of different CPU hardware-assisted features. Paper includes the file system performance comparison of three different hypervisors (virtual machine managers), on two competing processors of the same generation, using the virtualization technique. By applying full hardware virtualization, virtual machines are built on Intel and AMD processors. In this way, we can see which of CPUs have a better performance in terms of CPU hardware-assisted features, while modeling is used to interpret the results. The type-2 hypervisors are used in the work and they are Oracle VirtualBox, VMware Workstation and MS Hyper-V. All tests were performed on the filebench-1.4.9.1 tool.
