Circular Economy Goes Beyond Waste Management

This paper presents the research on the circular economy performance in Serbia, focused to the fact that country plans to refer to the circular economy principles in the updated waste strategy. However, among our desk research outreach is the message to policy makers that circular economy goes beyond waste management, and a range of other issues have to be addressed. This paper addresses the issues of definition and understanding of circular economy, processes at global level (including Sustainable Development Goals), EU level and in Serbia. Focus attention was mapping relevant policy documents, as well as mapping activities and initiatives. This research analysis is supported by the EU-funded project ENV.Net Factoring the Environmental Portfolio for WB and Turkey in the EU Policy Agenda, as well as the Serbian Ministry for Environmental Protection.
