摘要
The chemistry of redox-active bis(imino)acenaphthenes (BIAN, R-bian) and metal complexes based on them has been a rapidly developing field since the 1990s. The key features of this class of compounds are their chemical stability and structural rigidity, which predisposes them to chelating metal ions; stereoelectronic tunability of R substituents and increased ability to accept electrons. The redox non-innocent behavior of BIAN is widely sought after in metal complex catalysis. Transition metal complexes with R-bian ligands are the most developed area. This review summarizes the data on the chemistry of BIAN complexes of d-block metals available up to 2023. Herein, we describe their preparation, structural features, redox behavior, magnetic and catalytic properties, as well as biological activity.
