摘要
The anti-corrosive property of cycloheximide on mild steel in 0.5 M H2SO4 solution was investigated by means of weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization (PDP), chronoamperometry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. The impedance parameters inferred the strong adsorption of cycloheximide on mild steel (MS) surface. The PDP studies revealed that, the nature of inhibitor and its adsorption obeyed Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Weight loss measurement revealed the comphrahensive adsorption of inhibitor. Morphology of the steel sample was examined using SEM, XRD and contact angle measurements revealed the hydrophobicity of cycloheximide. In order to support our experimental findings and to predict the inhibition mechanism, the quantum chemical parameters measured using DFT.
