摘要
The geochemical characteristics of the polymetallic nodules from the Interoceanmetal exploration area in the eastern part of the Clarion-Clipperton Fractures Zone (CCZ), NE Pacific are studied. The nodules are enriched in Mn and reveal an Mn/Fe ratio of 2.74-6.06, which classify them mostly as mixed hydrogenetic-diagenetic type. They are also enriched in Ni, Cu, Co, Zn, Mo, W, Li, Tl and REE. The PAAS-normalized in situ REE patterns based on in-situ LA-ICP-MS data exhibit MREE and HREE enrichment and a variable Ce anomaly (Ce/Ce*=0.13-1.73) that argues for a changing oxic/suboxic environment during the nodule growth. The studied nodules are a possible source of critical elements for strategic value-added industries.
