Joint strength was measured as a mechanical property of spot-welded joints of casting and wrought aluminum alloys. It was confirmed that the joints of casting alloys, wrought alloys and combinations of casting and wrought alloys exhibited different joint strengths. In addition, hardness measurements and microstructural observations of the melting zone revealed that the melt properties affected the joint strength of spot-welded joints.
